As we roll on through into May 2025 (yes, already!), we want to keep you in the loop on what’s happening in with your mailing services. Today’s hot topic: the USPS has proposed mid-year price changes for mailing services.

As of April 11th, 2025, the United States Postal Service has filed with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) in regards to the price changes of mailing services planned to take effect July 13th, 2025. Included with the proposed prices is a 5-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp, from 73 cents to 78 cents.

Additionally, the Postal Service will be filing two separate price changes with the PRC, for Marketing Mail and Package Service Products (pending commission’s approval).

What does this mean for you? Postalocity.com works in tandem with USPS prices, and will promptly update its services to reflect any approved price changes. Nevertheless, Postalocity.com works to ensure our customers are saving the absolute MOST in time and money. We will continue to provide efficient and quality mailing services.

As noted in previous pricing proposal updates, Postalocity jobs approved after the change date, would reflect the new updated pricing.

This summer, we shared an important update about upcoming changes to USPS postage meters. To recap, USPS announced its largest nationwide postage meter migration, requiring approximately 70% of IBI (Information-Based Indicia) devices to be replaced with IMI (Intelligent Mail Indicia) compliant devices. At the time, we highlighted that by June 30, 2024, non-compliant devices would no longer meet USPS standards, prompting businesses across the country to upgrade. What’s driving these changes? USPS is aiming to improve security, automate refunds, and optimize its operations. Unlike IBI meters, which only needed periodic internet connectivity for updates, IMI meters must remain constantly connected to the internet to ensure compliance and enable these improvements.

Now, we’re approaching the next phase of this transition. By December 31, 2024, USPS will officially stop supporting all non-IMI compliant postage meters. After this date, these devices will no longer be able to have funds add and postage from non-compliant devices will no longer be accepted. In other words, non-compliant meters will effectively become obsolete.

For businesses relying on postage meters to handle mail, this means one thing: an upgrade is unavoidable. Renting or purchasing IMI-compliant meters will be necessary to continue operations into 2025, but it’s not a simple process. Costs for IMI-compliant devices, like the Pitney Bowes SendPro® Mailstation, average $26.99/month or $323.88/year, excluding postage. Beyond the financial investment, the sheer volume of devices needing replacement means potential supply chain issues and delays.

At Postalocity, we take the hassle of postage meters off your plate entirely. With our service, you don’t need to worry about purchasing or renting expensive equipment, staying compliant with USPS standards, or navigating supply chain delays. We handle everything for you, including:

New Postage Rate Price Changes for July 2024

On March 21, 2023, the U.S. Postal Service reached the second year of its 10-year “Delivering for America” plan. This plan aims to make the Postal Service self-sustaining and high performing. It addresses problems like mail and package demand, strict first-class mail standards, high employee turnover, and old pricing rules from the PRC.

You can view the U.S.P.S Delivering for America plan overview, milestones, and progress reports here.

Now we know what you’re thinking:

“So, what’s does this mean for me?”

Pulp Fiction John Travolta GIFfrom Pulp Fiction GIFs

As in our previous blog posts, we’re here to provide the low-down on upcoming price changes to U.S.P.S. postage rates. In April, the U.S. Postal Service told the PRC about a price change starting on July 14, 2024. The changes include a 5-cent increase for a First-Class Forever Stamp, raising the price from 68 cents to 73 cents.

For mailing products, this represents an overall increase of approximately 7.8 percent. The Postal Regulatory Commission of Mailing Services will review these changes before they take effect.

As mentioned before, Postalocity jobs approved to mail after July 14, 2024, will reflect the new USPS prices. The changes are as follows:

“The Postal Service is also seeking price adjustments for Special Services products, including Certified Mail and money order fees. Notably:

No price increase for Post Office Box rental fees

The Postal Service will apply a price reduction of 10 percent for postal insurance when mailing an item”

(FAQ.USPS)

Celebrate with savings. Dive into 50% off Mail Lists – because who can resist a good deal?

In recent years, we’ve implemented substantial enhancements to our backend infrastructure, automation systems, and equipment. Recognizing the need for alignment between the sophisticated technology powering our operations and the user experience for our customers, we’ve unveiled a sleek and intuitive new user interface. We’ve adjusted button placement and workflow optimization to streamline job processing. During a transitional phase, we’ll maintain both interface options to accommodate all users before fully migrating to the updated version.

The celebratory 50% off mail lists when you print and mail with us runs May 2-31st.

Did you know we offer more mail solutions than what you can find on postalocity.com? Postalocity is powered by Broadstroke, Inc., with a wide array of print and mail solutions.

7 Reasons Why Broadstroke is the Best Print & Mail Solution for your Company:

Automation makes mail incredibly fast compared to the old machines and manual labor of yesterday. We can pump out more than 12,000 pieces an hour with 100% accuracy because of our automated barcoding, high speed printers, educated staff, and updated robotics. Embracing technology for the future is what we’ve believed in for over 40 years.

Integration with our postalocity.com mail software is easy. The Broadstroke team will work with you to customize a solution that works with your software or platform. Some of our customers use our open API to create a button on their software, convenient for employees and users.

Work from home and still send your business mail. Why go into the office just to print and mail items when you can (literally) upload a PDF of your letter (bill, correspondence, etc.) to postalocity.com? You don’t have to deal with envelopes, stamps, or the post office. Our team and automated solutions will print, fold, stuff, address, add postage, and deliver it to the post office. You can even track (or trace as the USPS likes to say) your mail!

Postage meters are a thing of the past. Through our systems we’re able to help you retire those old Quadient, Stamps.com, Pitney Bowes, and other postage machines, providing lower cost mail solutions. We believe that our great customer service, added value, and time savings will retain our happy customers. This is why we do not require contracts and there is no penalty for cancelling.

Flexible options for our customers is key. Some clients want to upload their mail to postalocity.com, but others would like to email and talk on the phone with our team to work out the details. We’re able to assist you either way!

We offer mail pickup within a 60-mile radius of Wichita, Kansas. No matter where it’s going, size, or weight, we will get you the best rates and fastest delivery. You can avoid the high postage rates, stop standing in line at the post office, and you can cancel that expensive postage meter lease. Our mail room handles all USPS Mail classes, priority, first class, standard (marketing mail), non-profit, and EDDM. Parcels, priority mail, UPS, and FedEx packages are also picked up for added convenience!

We are an approved USPS partner! We presort all our mail by zip code before taking it to the special Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU) (basically the back door) reserved for companies like ours. Doing this helps our customer’s mail “skip” in line, getting it to recipients faster. Presorting also helps the Post Office process more mail, faster.

All that being said, we are the mail experts with a variety of mail solutions to fit your needs.

We would love to get you started! Call us at 316.247.fifty-three eleven or shoot an email to us at moreinfo@broadstrokeinc.com or postalocity@broadstrokeinc.com.

The post Mail Room Solutions, Powered by Broadstroke, Inc. first appeared on old.postalocity.com.

Are you prepared for mail that’s faster than a cheetah, more reliable than your morning alarm, and safer than a secret agent’s lair?

Broadstroke is your utility bill print and mail partner, helping you jazz up your mail processes to increase efficiency, just like a squirrel with a jet pack. Our Postalocity automated mail system uses state-of-the-art technology to help you connect with your customers in a timely and cost-effective way. Our focus on security and accuracy ensures error free mailings, as if a wizard concocted this patented technology.

Cities & Municipalities

As a leading provider of critical print and mail communications for cities and municipalities in the United States, Broadstroke handles mailing utility bills, updates about repairs and projects, and community events with ease. From postcards to self-mailers, letters to newsletters, and anything in between, we handle it all. We even take care of your certified mail!

Our patented online system, Postalocity.com, allows you to monitor and control all of your jobs in real time. And for those extra special, one-of-a-kind mail pieces, we’ve got our traditional mail house services standing by, ready to add that personal touch.

How does this process work? You will digitally review your proofs, approve & pay. Behind the scenes our automated mail software verifies addresses (against the USPS NCOA program to ensure accuracy) and presorts all of your mail. Then we’ll print, fold, stuff, and add postage before we deliver it directly to the post office. All this smart mail technology reduces the time it takes for your mail to reach its destination, often by one day.

You’ll receive updates and can track your mail pieces, keeping you in the loop. If you’re in a real hurry, we’ll even send your mail out the same or next day. So say goodbye to that dusty old postage meter and let Broadstroke handle your print and mail needs like the rock stars we are!

Let’s schedule a demo or call today!
